Major depressive disorder is one of the significant challenges in the field of mental health. The present study aimed to qualitatively examine the role of psychotherapy based on the Holy Qur’an in the recovery process of depression in a depressed individual. This qualitative research employed a case study design using a baseline–intervention–follow-up framework. The selected case was a 60-year-old married woman living in Tehran with a bachelor’s degree and working as a homemaker. She was purposefully chosen from a population of women aged 19–60 diagnosed with major depressive disorder in Tehran in 2023. The participant received ten sessions of Qur’an-based psychotherapy for depression. Research instruments included the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM Disorders (SCID), the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), and a Qur’an-based Depression Scale. Scores on these measures were assessed at three time points: pre-test, post-test, and one-month follow-up. The findings indicated a significant reduction in the participant’s scores on both the BDI-II and the Qur’an-based scale at post-test compared to pre-test, with treatment effects maintained at the one-month follow-up. Overall, the results suggest that Qur’an-based psychotherapy was effective in reducing depressive symptoms and improving major depressive disorder in this case.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the "marital instability" of couples in the city of Ilam. The research method is based on a qualitative method with a grand theory approach of "grounded theory". In this study, 24 of the aforementioned participants were selected using a theoretical and purposive sampling method. The data were collected and analyzed based on in-depth interviews. The results of the study show that "instability indicators" in cognitive, behavioral, emotional and temporal dimensions (marital duration) are affected by "causal factors" including; superficial cognition, moral and behavioral deviation, coercive approach of couples, weak problem-solving skills and heterogeneity of spouses. In the "contextual and context" dimensions, the findings show that marital instability is affected by structural divergence, generational gap, imbalance of the transition period, transformation of roles, values and incomplete socialization of couples. In the “strategies” dimension of marital instability, the role of silence and tolerance, feelings of inferiority and confrontation, violence and revenge, and a tendency towards divorce can be mentioned. As a result, the “consequences” of this instability include an intensification of feelings of inferiority and frustration, transformation and ineffectiveness of family values, identity crisis, and moral insecurity. Finally, “solutions” such as; creating a platform and strengthening culture-building centers, promoting patterns of marital skills, and strengthening supervision, treatment, and counseling centers have been proposed to reduce marital instability.

Stress is an inevitable part of human life, and effective coping strategies can contribute to physical and psychological well-being. The Seventh Supplication of Al-Sahifa Al-Sajjadiyya is a valuable source that offers precise strategies for alleviating the wounds caused by life’s hardships. Therefore, this study employs a combination of thematic network analysis and a descriptive survey method to extract the components of positive spiritual coping, focusing on the Seventh Supplication of Al-Sahifa Al-Sajjadiyya. The findings reveal that positive spiritual coping comprises five overarching themes: insight and acknowledgment before God, cognitive-spiritual reconstruction, spiritual connection, discovery and comprehension of meaning, and purposeful return to life. These five fundamental themes encompass the psychological layers of the perceived problem, ranging from insight to action. Insight into the inadequacy of primary coping mechanisms and acknowledgment of functional deficiencies fosters cognitive openness in the stage of cognitive-spiritual reconstruction, leading to heightened awareness of the true self, the real God, existence, and deconstructing misconceptions about the divine. Spiritual connection facilitates the reorganization of cognitive processing and existential expansion, while the discovery and comprehension of meaning establish a deep connection with the true significance of suffering and emotional regulation. Ultimately, purposeful return to life enables behavioral reconstruction. By guiding individuals through these stages, the supplication aids in coping with life’s adversities.

This study aims to explore the role of reflective writing in the psychological processing and critical learning of Iranian students when confronted with the human crisis of the 12-Day Iran–Israel War. Using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, the lived experiences of 14 students from various levels of humanities and psychology were analyzed through their reflective writings. Data analysis identified eight main themes, reflecting the emotional, cognitive, social, meaningful, and functional dimensions of confronting war. Findings indicated that reflective writing played a significant role in emotional release, meaning-making of the experience, mental organization, and post-crisis identity reconstruction. Additionally, various aspects of critical learning, including existential self-awareness, social analysis, collective responsibility, and emotional maturity, were traceable in the writings. Participants’ individual and cultural differences, particularly regarding education, gender, lived experience, and religious beliefs, influenced the type of reactions and depth of analysis. This study emphasizes that reflective writing can serve as an effective tool for coping with human crises, enhancing psychological well-being, and fostering critical insight in educational settings

Reducing the psychological distress of couples will lead to both the improvement of their relationships and the strength of the family foundation and thus the health of the society. This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the mediating role of alexithymia in the relationship between triangulation and psychological distress of women and men on the verge of divorce. The current research was of the correlation type, the statistical population of which was all divorce applicants in the first half of the year (spring and summer) of 2023 in Mashhad city, who went to qualified counseling centers for divorce procedures. Became Among the community, 300 people were voluntarily selected as available sampling. The tools of data collection in this research were Yousefi and Bahrami's Triangulation Scale (2015), Kessler's Psychological Distress Questionnaire (2002) and Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 (1994). For data analysis, Pearson correlation tests and structural equation analysis were used simultaneously. The findings of the research showed that triangulation and psychological distress of women and men on the verge of divorce have a positive relationship with each other. Also, alexithymia plays a mediating role in the relationship between triangulation and psychological distress of women and men on the verge of divorce. As a result, with increasing triangulation, alexithymia increases and ultimately leads to increased psychological distress and further progress towards divorce. Therefore, in order to reduce the psychological distress of couples during divorce, it was suggested to focus on reducing their triangulation and alexithymia.

The aim of the present study was to develop a psycho-educational package based on eclecticism in order to improve marital control and communication patterns of conflicting spouses. The methodology of this study was mixed, with the Delphi and a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a two-month follow-up phase. The research population in the qualitative section was all experts in the field of marriage counseling, that 30 of whom were selected through purposive sampling. In the quantitative part, all couples referring to Zanjan counseling centers were included. Among them, 50 couples whose scores on the Graham-Kevan & Archer (2003) Controlling Behaviors scale and the Christensen and Salavi (1984) Communication Patterns Questionnaire were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups of 25 people. The experimental group received training based on the developed protocol during nine two-hour sessions, while the control group received no training. The data were analyzed using the Kendall coefficient and analysis of covariance test. The content validity of the package was satisfactory and the expert panel reached a strong agreement in the fourth Delphi round. Findings of the quantitative section indicated that the developed package was able to improve the marital control of conflicting couples in the experimental group and modify their communication patterns (p<0.05), and this difference was also significant in the follow-up phase. The results indicate that the developed package can be effective in improving marital control and communication patterns of conflicting spouses.

The mental health of blind and low vision individuals refers to the general and emotional state that exposes the individual to increased stress and anxiety, feelings of loneliness, and a sense of helplessness due to visual impairment. In these circumstances, having social support is considered one of the most important social determinants of mental health. The main objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between social support and the mental health of blind and low vision individuals in the city of Kashan. The research method is survey-based and the statistical population includes members of the blind and low vision Community in the city of Kashan (652 individuals), from which 211 individuals have been selected as the sample size. The results of hypothesis testing indicate a direct relationship between the variables "family support," "friend support," "significant others' support," and "social support (sum of dimensions)" with the variable "mental health" at a 99% confidence level. Furthermore, the results of multiple regression analysis indicate a direct effect of "friend support," "family support," and "significant others' support" on the mental health variable, explaining 34% of the variance in the dependent variable. the results of the structural equation modeling indicate that the effect size of the variable "friend support" is moderate, while the effects of other variables are small. Overall, the predictive power of the model is evaluated at a moderate level. This article concludes by providing suggestions for strengthening social support for blind and low vision individuals and improving their mental health.

All segments of society need self-care, but among the segments of society, self-care is more difficult for women with a spouse with a spinal cord injury due to the many problems they have; this study was conducted to explore the lived experience of self-care in these women. The present applied research was of a qualitative phenomenological type. The population of participants in this study were all women who were the primary caregivers of their spouses with a spinal cord injury. The selection of participants was carried out using the snowball method until data saturation, and finally, in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 people. The Claise method was used to analyse the data. The qualitative data analysis of this study led to the identification of 3 main themes, 11 sub-themes, and 90 primary concepts. The main themes included: "self-care focused on oneself," "self-care focused on home, spouse, and family," and "self-care focused on the environment." The findings of this study showed that self-care in women with spouses with spinal cord injury is a multidimensional and important phenomenon, and understanding these experiences can be the basis for designing specialised and community-based support interventions so that, in addition to supporting the person with spinal cord injury, the mental and physical health of their caregivers is also seriously considered.
