Objectives: AIDS is a debilitating chronic infectious disease. Identification of personality characters and hope of HIV- positive patients impacts the improvement of health services. The aim of this research was to evaluate the correlation between the personality characters and hope in HIV- positive patients. Method: Some 42 HIV-positive patients with available sampling method were selected. Hope questionnaire and NEO-PI-R scale were used for evaluation of personality characters and hope. Data analysis was done via Pearson and multivariate regression analysis. Results: Data analysis showed independent negative correlation between neuroticism and hope and positive dependent correlation between extroversion and hope. Conclusion: Only neuroticism can independently predict hope in HIV-positive patients. Neurotic persons are depressive, anxious, irrational, stressful, with guilt feeling. So HIV positive patients with high neuroticism score probably have low hope.

abstractThe aim of this study was to develop a causal model of academic burnout based on social support and maladaptive perfectionism, considering the mediating role of self-efficacy among BA students of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. A number of 493 students (139 male and 354 female) were chosen through cluster sampling method, firstly and then, relative stratified sampling method. To collect the data, Maslach burnout inventory-student survey (2002), Child and Adolescent Social Support Scale (CASSS) of Malecki, Demaray, and Elliott (2000), Stober scale of perfectionism(2007) and Sherer self-efficacy scale(1982) were utilized. Path analyses showed that classmate support and maladaptive perfectionism had both direct and indirect effects on academic burnout (considering self-efficacy as mediator). The explained variance of academic burnout in model was 0.27, totally. All model fit indices were at ok fit and showed the fitness of model. Implications for coping with academic burnout are discussed in the paper.

Having diffusion identity can have undesirable consequences both for the individual and society. To reduce or even avoid these undesirable consequences, steps can be taken as to interfere in the process of identity formation and even after its formation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of logo therapy on improving an individual's identity. The study sample consisted of students who suffered diffusion identity. For identification and sampling some 500 male students from the University of Tehran were randomly selected, using the identity test and Bennion Adams (1987) test. The subjects were undergraduate students studying in the academic year 2010-2011 with the mean age of 21 years of old. Some 12 people with diffusion of identity problem and willing to participate in the program were selected to participate in therapy sessions. Out of the number, 3 people did not participate in group therapy sessions nor completed sensational trials. Therefore, just nine patients participated in full sessions. The program consisted of 12 group therapy sessions and the 90-minute logo therapy tests were conducted on the group. In the experimental and control groups, no significant differences in terms of identity diffusion were observed, but after logo therapy, the results of the test groups were significantly different from the other. In the experimental group, pre-test and post-test results were significantly different from one another, but in the control group, there was no significant difference between pre-test and post-test. Logo therapy's group was able to identify people who are upset on the identification of individuals for help.

Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to investigate and compare the affective working memory in depressed and non-depressed women. Methods: Using purposive sampling method, twenty seven depressed women were selected and matched by age & education with 27 non- depressed women. Data was collected by the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the n-back task and were analyzed using paired sample t-test. Results: Results indicated a weaker function in working memory task for depressed subjects compared to the non-depressed group (p<0.05). Although depressed individuals respond to positive stimuli significantly less than non-depressed people(p<0.05), there is no significant difference between two groups in responding to negative stimuli (p>0.05). Discussion: Limited working memory resources, lack of initiative, inability to prevent irrelevant information and rumination were discussed as causes of deficits on working memory task performance in depressed people.

In recent years, psychologists and psychiatrists sought to evaluate and compare the validity and efficiency of psychological interventions and medicinal treatments in the field of depression disorder. In this regard, by integrating the results of different studies, meta-analysis determines the level of the effect of treatment methods. This study aims at investigating into the level of the effect of psychological interventions and medicinal treatments on reducing depression symptoms using the meta-analysis model. For this purpose, 65 methodologically acceptable studies were selected and the meta-analysis method was applied. The research tool used in this study is the meta-analysis checklist. The level of the effect of psychological interventions on reducing depression symptoms is found to be d=0/47 (P< 0/0001) which is considered an average level according to Cohen’s table. The level of the effect of medicinal treatments is d=0/62 (P< 0/0001), which is higher than average based on the above mentioned table. Therefore it seems that medicinal treatments along with psychological interventions can be applied as appropriate treatments for individuals suffering from depression symptoms.

The present research aims to develop a treatment protocol by conscious raising based on the activation of the Islamic-spiritual schemas and compare its effectiveness with the process-experiential/emotion-focused therapy on decreasing the social anxiety of female students of Allameh Tabataba’i University. The sample population included 45 female students of the semi-attendance college, who were randomly divided into experiment 1, experiment 2, and control groups, each consisting of 15 subjects. The experiment groups separately received therapeutic interventions in 8 sessions. The research instrument was the Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory (SPAI). The data were analyzed using covariance analysis and post-test. The results confirmed the first research hypothesis with the probability of 99%. The first hypothesis stated that consciousness raising based on the activation of the Islamic-spiritual schemas was effective on decreasing the social anxiety of female students. Moreover, the results showed that the process-experiential/emotion- focused therapy was effective in decreasing the social anxiety of the female university students. Thus, the second hypothesis was also confirmed with the probability of 99%. The third hypothesis, which predicted a significant difference between the effectiveness of the treatment protocol by consciousness raising based on the activation of the Islamic-spiritual schemas and the process-experiential/emotion-focused therapy on decreasing the social anxiety of female students was confirmed with the probability of 99%.

One of the perennial problems of the society is the existence of superstitionism and the belief in it. Factors and contexts of superstitionism exist in all countries, rituals and religions and seek to distort the reality such as a backward cover. Schools of superstition grow one after another and a large number of uninformed people (including Iran) are absorbed toward it every day. Based on the above-mentioned introduction, we seek to take an educational look and employ a descriptive method via the qualitative analysis of data and answer this question that, what position superstitionism has in Iran and what sorts of educational strategies can be provided for that? Findings revealed that superstitionism is the outgrowth of different historical periods and its effects are devastating and sometimes irreversible. Moreover, we need to have an educational approach to treat this social problem. Two educational, rational and mystical strategies are recommended. The basic objective of rational and spiritual education is training aware and mindful people, who have based their thinking on correct and logical reasoning and investigate different aspects of matters with comprehensive and profound ideas and show high flexibility in dealing with real-world issues.
