The present study aimed to compare the efficacy of two types of group behavioral-cognitive therapy and group logo therapy on reducing depression and increasing life expectancy in the empty nest syndrome in the city of Ghorveh. The universe under study included all men and women of the city of Ghorveh whose children had either left them or got separated from them .A sample size of 36 people was selected by the sampling method in access. Then, people were randomly divided in three groups (Two experimental groups and one control group). An experimental group received 10 group logo therapy sessions, the second experimental group received 13 behavioral-cognitive psychotherapy sessions while the control group received no intervention. To collect data, the Beck BDI-II depression questionnaire and Snider et al life expectancy questionnaire were used. This research is quasi experimental including pretest and posttest with the control group. To analyze data, the descriptive and inferential statistics (Covariance analysis test) were applied. Findings revealed that behavioral cognitive therapy is effective in reducing depression while logo therapy is found to be more effective in increasing life expectancy. It is concluded that both types of group behavioral-cognitive therapy and group logo therapy are effective in reducing depression and increasing life expectancy in the empty nest syndrome.

Having diffusion identity can have undesirable consequences both for the individual and society. To reduce or even avoid these undesirable consequences, steps can be taken as to interfere in the process of identity formation and even after its formation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of logo therapy on improving an individual's identity. The study sample consisted of students who suffered diffusion identity. For identification and sampling some 500 male students from the University of Tehran were randomly selected, using the identity test and Bennion Adams (1987) test. The subjects were undergraduate students studying in the academic year 2010-2011 with the mean age of 21 years of old. Some 12 people with diffusion of identity problem and willing to participate in the program were selected to participate in therapy sessions. Out of the number, 3 people did not participate in group therapy sessions nor completed sensational trials. Therefore, just nine patients participated in full sessions. The program consisted of 12 group therapy sessions and the 90-minute logo therapy tests were conducted on the group. In the experimental and control groups, no significant differences in terms of identity diffusion were observed, but after logo therapy, the results of the test groups were significantly different from the other. In the experimental group, pre-test and post-test results were significantly different from one another, but in the control group, there was no significant difference between pre-test and post-test. Logo therapy's group was able to identify people who are upset on the identification of individuals for help.

In the research literature, there were evidences for prevalence of death anxiety among older adults. No research has focused on this topic so far. Therefore the purpose of this study was to decrease the death anxiety among older adults using logo therapy. This was a semi-experimental study using control group and test group. 20 subjects were selected randomly from among the older adults residing at Uremia older adult center. They were randomly divided into test and control groups and the death anxiety scale pre-test was taken. Then, 10 logo therapy sessions were conducted for the test group. The control group had no intervention session. The same test was taken in both groups as post-test and one month later, as follow-up. The data were collected using Analysis of Covariance. The results showed that death anxiety in the test group was significantly lower than that of the control group in both post-test and follow-up stages. Group logo therapy decreased death anxiety in older adults suffering from death anxiety and the finding can be discussed in terms of treatment of death anxiety
