Introduction: High rate of official divorce and extension of uncontrolled emotional divorce represent that commitment is fading in lives of Iranian couples. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to study and comparison of the effectiveness of integrative behavioral couple therapy (IBCT) and redecision therapy in improvement of marital distress of competing couples. Method: The quasi-experimental design with pre-test, post-test and control group was used. Accordingly, 42 couples that had marital conflicts were chosen using convenience sampling from counseling centers of the Sanandaj city. The participants were randomly assigned to control and treatment groups. One of the experimental groups received integrative behavioral couple therapy (IBCT), another experimental group received redecision therapy but control group did not receive any intervention. Findings: results showed that gender of couples had little impact on the effectiveness of interventions. Statistical analysis also showed that both integrative behavioral therapy and redecision therapy were effective in decreasing marital distress (P<01). But IBCT had greater impact on decreasing and maintaining of treatment gains up to two months after the end of treatment. Conclusion: Consolidated treatments are being developed and it is hoped that the application of this approach by the experts and consultants met more enthusiasm.
