This study aims at detecting the early maladaptive schemas of depressed persons and assigning the effect of training and implementation of experiential techniques on depressed persons’ schemas. In this study, random cluster sampling was used and depression subscale, from 21- question-scale of depression, anxiety and stress (DASS_21), was implemented to assign 30 depressed persons and 30 other persons who were not detected as depressed; Young early maladaptive schemas Questionnaire (YSQ) was then applied to both groups and T-test was implemented in order to compare both schemas. The results showed that the depressed persons’ schemas of deficit, failure, dependence/incompetence, social isolation and emotional deprivation were higher than those of persons who were not depressed. At the second stage of this study, two groups were selected from depressed persons including a controlling group (10 persons) and a test group (10 persons). The test group was trained with the experiential techniques of schema therapy. Using Young questionnaire, the schemas of two groups were reanalyzed after the completion of the training period. The produced data was then compared through the application of Levin Test and covariance analysis; the results revealed that the schemas of the test group were improved in comparison to those of controlling group who were not subjected to the training of experiential techniques.

The preset study aimed to examine and compare dimensions of perfectionism (self-oriented, other-oriented, and socially prescribed perfectionism) with locus of control in students with high test anxiety and normal students. It was a causal-comparative research. Using cluster random sampling method, 280 subjects were selected from among all male and female students of Allameh Tabataba’i University in the 2010- 2011 educational years. The data were collected using the Tehran Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (TMPS), the Rotter's Locus of Control Standard Questionnaire and Test Anxiety Inventory (TAI). The statistical analysis methods of chi-square, coefficient of correlation and Regression were used to analyze the data. The results showed that, in all three dimensions of perfectionism, there was a significant difference between students with high test anxiety and normal ones. The former had higher degree of perfectionism in all its three dimensions. There was also a significant relationship between locus of control among students with high test anxiety and that of normal ones. The locus of control was more outward in those with high test anxiety. There was a significant positive relationship between all three dimensions of perfectionism and test anxiety. Perfectionism can predict the level of text anxiety

The main objective of the present study was to compare perfectionism, ego strength, anger, and anger rumination in individuals with major depression (MDD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Tehran Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (TMPS), Ego Strength Scale (ESS), Tehran Multidimensional Anger Inventory (TMAI), and Anger Rumination Scale (ARS) were completed by 60 patients (39 patients with major depression disorder, 21 patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder). Method of the present descriptive study was causal-comparative and statistical society included all major depressive disordered and obsessive-compulsive disordered patients refering to private clinics in Tehran during the year 1394. Analysis of the data involved both descriptive and inferential statistics including means, standard deviations, correlation coefficient, MANOVA, and independent t-test. The results demonstrated that dimensions of perfectionism were different in MDD and OCD: while self-oriented perfectionism and other-oriented perfectionism were elevated in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder sample, socially-prescribed perfectionism was elevated in major depression disorder sample. The results revealed no difference between the two groups in ego strength. Ager-in was elevated in major depression disorder sample, and there was no significant difference in other dimensions among the two groups. The results indicated that individuals with MDD showed more level of anger rumination than individuals with OCD. According to the results of the present study it can be concluded that comorbidity of MDD and OCD can be clarified through the common bases of psychopathology, meanwhile different principals of psychopathology justify distinction between the two disorders.

This study is mainly aimed at investigating the role of narcissism in predicting personality aspects, problem solving and psychological well-being. To this end, 180 people (102 girls and 78 boys) were selected from among the students at Payame Noor University of Guilan Province in the academic year 2013-2014 using the random cluster sampling method and completed the narcissistic personality inventory (Raskin and Terry, 1988), big five personality questionnaire (Costa & McCrae, 1989), psychological well-being questionnaire (Ryff, 1989), and problem solving styles questionnaire (Cassidy & Long, 1996). The data were analyzed by means of Pearson correlation and regression. Findings suggest that narcissism is capable, as an important psychological constituent, of predicting personality aspects, problem solving styles and psychological well-being in the students. Such findings help explain why people's narcissism is an important variable. Dealing with this constituent is recommended in research areas of personality psychology and social psychology.

The goal of this study was to describe the mediating role of early maladaptive schemas in relation of attachment styles and depression. The sample group in this study included 300 students from Amir Kabir and Allameh Tbatbaii university in 2012-2013 year. Data were gathered through the application of three scales: Beck depression scale, Young Schema questionnaire short form (SQ - SF) and adult attachment style (AAI). The results of the path analysis test showed the mediating role of early maladaptive schemas in relation of attachment styles and depression. This analysis illustrated that secure and insecure attachment styles, both in a direct and indirect way, had a significant role in depression. The rate of the direct effect of secure attachment style on depression was -0/17 (p value <0/05) and the rate of the indirect variable through early maladaptive schemas was -0/46 (p value <0/05). Also, the rate of the direct effect of ambivalent and avoidant insecure attachment style on depression was 0/14 و 0/06 (p value <0/05) and rate of the indirect effect of these two variables through early maladaptive schemas was 0/104 و 0/14 (p value<0/05). Therefore the findings of this study showed that attachment styles through early maladaptive schemas make depression.

The present research was conducted to develop instructional programs of Islamic morals & existential consciousness enhancement & compare their effectiveness on life satisfaction improvement. First of all, for formulating existential program ,different texts were monitored and common concepts among existential theoreticians specially May, Yalom & Frankle were chosen as a basis of the work. Corryís pattern of existential psychotherapy(2005c) was used for various stages of the program. For formulating Islamic morals program, the researcher used jame olsaadat by Naraghy (because of its relatively integrated theory & systematic structure), Javady e Amoly & Motahharysí ideas. The pattern for stages of this program is derived from change stages in Systems of Psychotherapy by Prochaska & Norcross (1994). The participants (45 students from Allameh Tabatabai University, the Faculty of psychology and education) randomly divided into 3 groups: existential, moral & control group. While experimental groups were given their instructional programs(Islamic morals and existential programs), no intervention was used for the control group. The methodology of this research was experimental. Life Satisfaction Scale (SWLS, Diener et al., 1985, with reliability 0/88 in Iran.) was used to measure life satisfaction. The results demonstrates that Islamic morals consciousness enhancement program improved life satisfaction but existential consciousness enhancement program was not effective .There was not any meaningful difference between experimental and Islamic morals group

This study was conducted with the aim of comparison of two cognitive- behavioral methods (with an emphasis on Beck and Alices's pattern) and training time management strategies (with an emphasis on Luis and Tracy's model) in an effort to alleviate procrastination and perfectionism of university students. The sample consisted of 80 students who were identified as procrastination and perfectionism through a test tapping the same constructs. They were placed randomly into two groups: experimental and control. In order to avoid subject loss, all subjects were placed into three groups: cognitive-behavioral (n=27), time management strategies (n=27), and the control group (n=26). The results of a covariance showed that there was a significant difference between perfectionism and procrastination among the groups under study. Results also showed that procrastination and perfectionism dropped significantly in the cognitive- behavioral group and time management group in comparison with the control group. But, a significant difference was not found between the two experimental groups in terms of procrastination and perfectionism. We can say that both cognitive-behavioral method and time management strategies were effective in alleviating perfectionism and procrastination. But, the former was more effective although no significant differences were found.

Several factors can affect the level of death anxiety. Some studies have shown the role of emotional intelligence and religious orientation in death anxiety. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and religious orientation with death anxiety. The statistical population of the study consisted of all male retired male employees of Khuzestan Steel Company. 300 of them were selected by simple random sampling method. All participants completed emotional intelligence and religious orientation questionnaire and death anxiety scale. Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression were used for analyzing the data at alpha level of 0.01. The findings showed that emotional intelligence and religious orientation have a negative and significant negative relationship with death anxiety. Also, the results of stepwise regression analysis showed that three variables of internal religious orientation, excitement assessment and excitement setting prediction variables predicted death anxiety and, in total, predictive variables were 33.6% of They explain the variance of death anxiety. The results of this study showed that, considering the age at which retired people are located, increasing the emotional intelligence of individuals and increasing religious beliefs and spiritual health of individuals can reduce the level of anxiety in the death of the elderly. Using spirituality can be a coping strategy for retired people.
